While the posted pictures may look the same, they are different. Smelted over 600# of the used Linotype into ingots starting at 9 this morning and finishing at 3 in the afternoon. had to carry the 600# of raw material about 50 yards around the corner of the barn, 30# to 50# slugs, one at a time. home now and ready for an adult Bev and getting my feet up. Lead recycler has sent me 9 steel 5 gallon buckets. Will load each up with about 90# of the fines from the lead and strap to a heavy duty pallet next week. they are paying shipping to return to their factory. analysis showed 10% tin, 20% antimony, remanded lead. depending of shipping cost, maybe I will have some positive credit to buy pure lead. A couple of weeks ago I did buy a second cast iron 3x3 ingot mold. each ingot about 2.5#. really helped speed up with the pouring of ingot. Picture is 290# of lead. another rack has around 27 of the 6.25# triangle ingots from the angle iron molds I made. probably 1/3 of the time was fluxing and getting the fines out of the pot. My first 450# smelt day. 7 slugs, around 250#, and 150# of COWW are all the raw material I have left. Then I will be thru smelting, at least for now.
