Yes. Basically anything but full metal jackets are legal. Is it legal to hunt on public property for deer hunting using center fire LEAD ROUND NOSE bullets? The regs just say soft nose or hollow point.
Like a 45LC, 45-70, 38-55 LRN?
Muzzle loader patched round ball are dead soft lead, very high velocity and perform all out of proportion to diameter....58 minies work fine on deer, while the poster likely is talking commercial hard cast handloads or cowboy loads with harder bullets, or he would not even be asking the question. Jacketed softpoint are also dead soft lead and at high velocity, ditto the jacketed HPs.While i agree with the above post- that the rule prohibits full metal jackets, and any plain lead bullet should be fine.. ( imagine going out with a hawken and round ball and being told you’re wrong!) but- i would highly recommend using a flat nose lead, not round nose- in the old cartridge designs, as it will cut closer to a full diameter hole, and be more likely to flatten out a little, creating at least a little expansion..
