OKCPD isnt bad, but it isnt what it used to be. My dad ended up leaving the force @ 30 years in (7 years edmond, 23 years OKCPD) due to PTSD after a series of severe incedences. He is well taken care of due to reaching 30 years with the Louisiana plan. As far as his path. Started as a patrol officer and was out of hefner in the 10th street district. Did that for around 5 years and got tired. Transfered to undercover SWAT for 10 years. Transfered to PTO and trained officers for about 5 years and hated it. Transfered to homicide detectives for 2 years and was run off from that. long story there. Did patrol for 1 additional year before retiring from PTSD. His main complaints were Leutinants were forced to be desk jockeys by upper ranks and weren't allowed to assist and patrol calls like they were in the earlier days. Shifts were lengthened, overlap decreased, and numbers decreased. Extra programs were reduced. My dad was apart of a program called Weed-n-seed for a long time and it was terminated despite its success. RAIDD or whatever the acronym is was open for a while to do as you want, now they assign you to areas and you're required to write a quota of tickets per shift. As many have said, his main complaint was the shift of paperwork burden. Also, he has now been retired for 4 years and is still receiving subpoenas to come to court on cases from years past. Its a downside because my parents want to retire to Colorado but he doesn't want to have to commute to Oklahoma alot.
