1911---------------------------------------------------5906 A 1911 is a single action gun with a manual safety and a grip safety. It has a single stack magazine of 7 rounds (45). The grip angle for me is just dead nuts on when I bring it up to eye level. The Smith 59 family is double action with a manual safety that operates in reverse direction from the 1911. The redeeming feature of the 59 is the staggered magazine holds 15 rounds (9mm). The grip angle is too steep for my taste. The Model 39 is the same style gun but is single stacked like the 1911. It looks to have the same grip angle as the 1911 also. I don't know, I've never held one.
