I recently bought an older Chevy Avalanche as son e of u may remember the thread about 4X4 opinions duri g my search.

Anyway, I got it to use for hunting vehicle and am I terrested in lifting it for more ground clearance.

What do you think? Where to take it? Things to consider? 4" or 6"?

if you lift it, you'll have to lift stuff higher to get it in the truck or the bed. I'd suggest a 2" lift and slightly larger tires. You're going to start stressing things that on an older half ton are already stressed.

IFS front end. Uggghhhhhhh! Well, since you got I would go 4" which should be just big enough to put 33" tires on it. Chevy IFS don't like hard wheeling with large tires. The 33" should keep you from breaking too much.

Weird thing is it has brand new tires so I think I'll just do the lift now and when it's tire time, I'll go wheels and bigger tires then. Is that possible.

Do whatever makes you happy. Like others here have said 33" is the biggest I'd run on IFS, if I could do that with a leveling kit and not rub then thats the way I'd go or whatever minimum amount for articulation 4" max. I've had lifted trucks that I used as hunting rigs and cussed myself everytime I had to load a deer in the bed.
