The only time we turn on the GPS function is when the employee has done their fair share of things to put doubt in their honesty. Specifically when we call a superintendent to ask where they are and they say at the jobsite. When they ask why. We respond with well the Owners Rep is sitting infront of your job trailer and you aren't there. He has been there an hour. Or when we had a superintendent in his fishing boat on the lake when he was suposed to be on the jobsite. Before my time but it did happen. My personal favorite is the former employee who decided it would be our money well spent to park his truck in the Tener's Parking lot on Reno and go into Night Trips for a couple of hours during the day. We only found out about that one when the Manager at Tener's got concerned and thought we should know about it. Aparently this happened quite often. Unlike some places you don't have to earn trust here. You just have to keep it. The two employees that we are monitoring now have earned this one. One has had more calls about his driving than I can count. The other has more gas tickets than anyone else. Its either this or a mileage log. the ML will probably still happen.
