One of the problems with my marriage recently was that she was sick of me not listening to her. She has this very soft voice and it tapers off as and gets lower as she speaks, which makes it extremely difficult for me to hear everything. She would get sick of me asking to repeat herself and would either roll her eyes when she had to say it 2 or 3 more times or just flat tell me forget it. I got tired of being treated like crap because of my hearing and just started nodding my head and going uhh huhh. If you don't have hearing loss it's really hard to understand it. She has ears like a bat and actually thought I had "selective" hearing loss, at times my tinnitus drops enough that I can hear a little better. That was one of the things we had to work on in counseling. She's a lot better at understanding my hearing problems now but I worry about it every time I have to ask her what she just said even when I'm looking her straight in the eye. It's not that I'm too proud to get hearing aids it's the price of the things. You know it's bad when your teenage kid is always asking ou turn the volume down because it's too loud.
