Needed to sell her to pad the savings account. Ended up not needing the cash. I'll buy another one eventually.

M1a National Match Walnut with Stainless Barrel. Oh she was a dream to shoot.

Good God, I love the finish and the look of your M1A. This thing never get old, I want one.

That was my Grail rifle. I had been looking for a Loaded model as I wasn't sure the Walnut stock would stay. I didn't think I needed the bedding. I had one ordered and after a few weeks of waiting with no confirmation of an arrival date I started looking. Walked in to H&H one day at lunch just to see if they had any on the rack. Sure enough sitting in its full glory was the upgrade to the rifle I wanted.

I grabbed Steve and told him to give it to me. I pulled out the plastic and put it on lay away. A month later i went back in and picked it up. Again using plastic. Had I paid cash for it initially I probably would still have it in my safe.

I find that I'm more emotionally attached to firearms I pay cash for.

I love shooting my 700 in .308. Its a dream to shoot. just as that M1A was. You got a bit of a nudge from the rifle. Just enough to let you know you were shooting a Battle Rifle.

My dad was using an M14 during Vietnam war and I've heard story about this rifle. I constantly checking with Budsgunshop and hope to find a good deal out of it. H&H has several on display and I did pulled Steve Dill over one time to have him open up the case and let me hold one of those. I love M1A as much as I love M16.

Man, it's been almost a year since this thread was updated. Can't let that happen, folks - post up your latest M1/M1A acquisitions!

I already posted these pics in another thread, but here they are again: Dec. 1943 (IIRC) SA receiver, rebuilt at the Letterkenny Army Depot in Pennsylvania. The very light gray coloration of the parkerizing is unique to the LEAD. The birch stock also sports the orange triangle stamp of the LEAD, but the receiver leg doesn't have the arsenal code and date e-p'ed into it, meaning the rebuild was done around 1960-1962, prior to the change in the arsenal SOP to include the e-p'ing of the receiver.

I recently picked up another WW2 SA M1, which was rebuilt some time between WW2 and the Korean War, as evidenced by the plum-colored parkerizing, done when the Army arsenal simply parked over the existing finish. I liked the look of the metal, plus it has a gorgeous post-war walnut stock. I'll need to take pics and post them. In the meantime, keep those pics coming

OK, here's the Nov. 1944 SA M1 that was rebuilt right after WW2. The pics don't do the rifle justice; the stock really does look better in person, and the metal does have a purplish cast to it

man i do not like you guys, cause i would love to have an M1A (M14 whatever) i would not even mind having the Norinco as i hear and have read that they are really great guns. I have a FAL and LOVE IT.

Here's a pretty old pic of my M1a Loaded model with a few other tweaks I had to make.. Since this pic was taken my adjustable cheek rest has been installed. it shoots outstanding with the suppressor, and is very much hearing safe!

I'm not a fan of the Springfield mount, but the scope really isnt to bad at all. But you're not going to hear me complain to loudly about something that came with the rifle.

What other "tweaks" did you do to the rifle? Is that a walnut stock or a synthetic stock hiding under the paint? I'm guessing synthetic, from the looks of the pistol grip...
