I finally ditched the new CMP walnut stock on my lone Garand for a correct DAS SA stock. I've been trying to track down another set of USGI wood for quite awhile. I let a field grade (Greek return) 1/2" DAS SA set and a nice 1/2" DAS HRA set go a few years back and I've been kicking myself ever since. Finding a replacement set hasn't been easy because I'm honestly too cheap to pay the going rate on these stocks nowadays. Luckily I was finally able to find something that fit the bill for the right price...the DAS is faint but the rest of the stock is near service grade quality wood and has great lock-up. The handguards were purchased separately but are a dead match.

The rear handguard had two cracks that extended from the rear of the handguard to the clip recess and all the way through the handguard. I repaired both cracks with Gorilla Glue, dressed the areas with files and sandpaper, restained with both alcohol based dye and oil based stain, then finished with pure dark tung oil and they are no longer visible. The red lines in the photos below show where the cracks previously were.

Nice! Any chance your looking to get rid of that CMP set?

Agreed! Beautiful rifle. Tell me about the stock and scope mount. Is that a laminate stock? I really want to scope my NM and see what it'll really do.

The rifle is SA, the stock is walnut Fulton Armory but Boyd made it. Stain was walnut stain dark and I finished it with polyurethane clear coating. The scope mount is also Fulton Armory scope base, it's steel, very solid and affordable. The rings I used on those are NightForce 30mm .885 Steel rings. Never go with aluminum scope mount, I have had about 4 scope base until I decided to go with Fulton, happy ever after.
