Garands are majorly addicting.
They are super fun to shoot! They are accurate, and people use them for hunting often using hand loads.
Mine came from the CMP but bought mine from an individual. I LOOOOOOVE mine and it goes on almost every range trip. Even my girlfriend loves shooting it. So much one time she had to go from shooting freehand to the bench because her arm was tired of holding it up. She is 125 pounds TOPS and prolly put 100 rounds down range that day with it. It is prolly my most favorite rifle I own besides the .22 that belonged to my great grandpa, remington model 12C. I have carried mine hunting, made up some gooooood handoads for it, but seems every time i take it out i see no deer :/
Anyhow, by all means get a Garand. Lots of history and lots of fun! I want two more so i can use the stacking swivel lol.

All I can say is it is just amazing having all those huge empty cases fly out of the and the ping of the clip as it is ejected after your clip is empty
I recently bought a service grade H&R from CMP and I love it. I'm going to refinish the furniture when I get some time off.
Is it a USGI stock? If so, can you post pics before you refinish it?
I've got a CMP HRA Correct from about 5 or 6 years ago. Stock didn't require refinishing...just a wipe down. Those post war HRAs are nice!
