just now got the pistol back together, never was more careful than doing this one, i sweated bullets worrying about a potential scratch or idiot mark. and talked with Bob, the grips will be here friday or saturday

Lol, well... more or less... :D

I know they make grips from mammoth teeth. And while most are cut to show the layers, I don't know whether they can be cut with the layers to be more of a solid color.

My main (and obviously misinformed) thought, was that illegal ivory includes mammoth ivory. But apparently it does not.

However, a google search reveals there are real concerns that poached elephant ivory may very well be passed off as "mammoth" ivory in many cases. No doubt most customs inspectors are NOT ivory experts.

Anywho... that's why I figured the grips were teeth and not tusks. My bad.
