Zeroed it yesterday at 50 and knew it would be dead hold on at 100. These are my first 10 shots with the Marlin 335 xlr 30/30 ss. Shooting the 150 gr. core lock rem at 100 yds.
Shooting off the lead sled so it's all the rifle. Man I love that lever action. 1x7 leupold scope.
6 in the pocket and 4 just out. I'll take it.
Wanted to take a vid and more pictures but my phone was full and would not let me do anything else but a little vid and I got a screen shot from it. No wind and a bit humid but the run ran well. I had replaced the trigger with a Ranger precision flat trigger that eliminated any slop or take up. Makes a difference.
    What fun.

Pretty good group for a lever gun in 30-30. That barrel band that clamps on the barrel to stock typically causes the shots to start walking when the barrel warms up.

I love that Marlin. But I love lever guns and most of us, when we were kids, stepped up to 30/30's when we got old enough. I'm happy with the accuracy. It will get better but this isn't a long range gun/hole in hole. It is a super fun gun to shoot and hunt with. Most guns will open up when they get warm, even my ruger precision 6.5. You need to cool your barrel if you want all it's got. I was glad to see 10 shots (2 full reloads) keep a good group. Hope to shoot it some tomorrow.
Rem 150 core lock 30/30 ammo is easy to find and I've got a lot of it. So I'm picking what I shoot with what I can replace or reload.

What ring/mount combo is holding the Leupold?
Been thinking about scoping my 336XLR. Sweet rifle.

Nice! Try some Hornady LeverEvolution. It made my Marlin Glenfield 30-30 shoot minute of milk jug at 300 yards.

Hell, as bad as my eyeballs are getting I'd have trouble hitting the milk delivery truck at 300 yds. I hate the thought of having to put a scope on my lever gun.
Just don't seem right. No sir, just don't seem right at all.

It's a Leupold 2 piece. I'd prefer the one piece made for the Marlin as it goes directly on top where you have to remove the rail but I finally got the rings adjusted correctly so zero is holding

Don't know how old the rifle actually was but back in the 80's my very first deer rifle was a used pawn shop Marlin 336CS 30.30 with a mounted steel tube Weaver fixed 4X scope and it absolutely loved factory Remington 150 gr. Core-Lokt ammo.

Killed several deer with it and then like a dumba$$ I traded it off.

Still have mine! It's got a medallion in the butt stock that says it's an OTASCO Diamond Jubilee special edition. Had it since new (my folks owned an OTASCO store) --- 1978, I believe.
