We do a lot of "mixing" to be sent to other facilities, as well as ordering in. Green (uncured) rubber has a short shelf life (10 days or less, depending on the compound). An outage anywhere in the line affects the entire plant. Equipment breakdowns or bottlenecks create needs to mix at 1 plant and ship to another. The shipments are by 18-wheeler. Rail is much too slow to maintain quality. My son drives, he transport mostly between the Houston plant and Lawton, with stops at Ardmore, regularly. He was hauling tires to the GM plants in Kansas City and Dallas, but that hasn't happened since the Gates "accidental" release.
