Surjimmy has a Yost...a 1911 Yost. He let me shoot it. It was a joy. A pleasure to feel my finger on that trigger cause the disconnect, sear and hammer to interact; to so cleanly allow that firing pin to be released to strike the primer and send that 230 gr hunk of full metal jacketed lead spiraling down that barrel.

I still want to know if I can change my username to "assman."
It is funny how the issue with mods causing the problems on this forum keeps coming up. There was a thread last year about why we don't have more members, or at least more active members. The same issues that are being discussed in this thread was discussed in that thread.
I had typed up a long post about issues as I see them. I decided to delete it because it has been made perfectly clear to me, by the mods, my opinion does not matter, to the point of calling me names.

Yep, SJ has some nice ones. He did have a Don Williams-tuned BHP...if he still has it. Man, with some effort, we'll make a gun forum out of this place yet!

Yes, I indeed do know that in the beginning, the pistol JMB proposed was a 9mm. But wasn't that the original 1911, in the beginning? If I'm not mistaken, it was some Colonel from the Armory Board who insisted the pistol be chambered for a more potent caliber. Thus, we have the .45auto. And everyone knows the .45auto is the end all be all .... right? And then along came the Commander...the perfect blend of form and function. And now, I have a wonderful Commander in .45 and another in 9mm. Both - joys to holster and joys to shoot.

I was referring to the original Commander, built in 1949, in 9mm, which was submitted to the Army for testing as a possible replacement for the M1911 service pistol in .45 ACP. Anytime someone insists that only a .45 ACP chambered 1911 can be considered a "true 1911", I point out that the original Commander was in fact first chambered in 9mm.
