I've had the fortune to own and drive a few nice cars. All of them quite different. I learned to drive on the farm in my dad's 71' Jeep CJ5. It had a factory "Dauntless" Buick 225 V6. 160 HP and 235 pound feet of torque mated to a 3 speed manual tranny and a posi rear end. It would peel the asphalt off the road in 1st & 2nd and if you revved it high enough, it would bark the tires in 3rd. Needless to say, it was doubly fun off road. :) When I was in the Corps, I had a black 66' Mustang GT notchback. It had a heavily massaged 289 with a VERY nasty Lunati cam, an original Edelbrock Torker hi-rise manifold and a 750cfm Double Pumper with mechanical secondaries. It had a unique lope at idle and the highest I ever turned it was 7800 RPM. It was miserably grumpy on cold days before it warmed up, but at WOT, the wail was glorious! :) We had a triple black 02' Vette convertible with a bunch of Z06 goodies that was also a lot of fun, but I actually enjoyed it most when just cruising at 45mph or less with the top down. My current ride is a lot of fun in other ways. 08' Lexus GS460 with a 342hp V8 and 8 speed automatic and the Mark Levinson sound system. It has plenty of thrust, but it's the refinement and quality audio that I enjoy now. But none of them compared to my 03' WRX. Nothing fancy and it wasn't an STI, but I upgraded the brakes to match the capabilities of the car. The best word to describe it is "tossable". It made you feel like Superman and nearly invincible, which could get some people in a lot of trouble. I only really overcooked it one time, but I trusted the car and what it could do and it brought me back from the brink. Everyone I ever took to my "happy place" in it got the living bejeezus scared out of them. All it took was a run through the twisties to make a bad day a thing of the past. :)
