Where can you find mule deer in Oklahoma? I know "the panhandle" but how far east and southeast are they? I have leases west and northwest of Woodward. Should they hold mule deer?
Probably so. I had a friend who farmed north and west of Mooreland for many years, and I know he had mule deer on his places more than twenty years ago!
I killed a muley on Cooper WMA back in 2005, so yes, they are in that area.
Ellis Co PHA used to have some on it but I have not been there in years to say if they still are or not.
That would be somewhat close to one of the leases, it is near Buffalo. I guess I will have to make the trip up there to see what happpens. Would be nice to get my first mule deer!
I saw 3 mule deer does on private land east of arnett about 3 years ago.. they're around east of the panhandle..
I'm glad someone brought up mulies. Is it tough to tell the difference between the two in the field through a rifle scope? To look at pictures online of the two the distinguishing charachteristics I can pick out are size(mule generally larger), ear size(mule ears larger), black tipped tail on mule, but is all this stuff as easy to see in the field? I'd feel like a real ass if I thought I just got a Mule and walked up on a white tail.
They look different if you take your time to look at them. I don't think you would mess up unless you just threw up a shot.
