Muzzle coverage on IWB holsters

Carrying IWB, what is your preference about holster covering muzzle/barrel?

  • Full coverage to end of muzzle

  • Partial coverage, approx. to front of trigger guard

An open ended (exposing any length near the muzzle) holster is a major safety compromise. Upward pressure against the muzzle can cause the gun to come out. Some holster makers refuse to make them.

When I first got my xdm I wore that plastic holster to the range, setting on the cement bench I heard scrape.

I never wore that thing again, the finish is pretty tough on them pistols, but I could still tell...

I guess wanting "full coverage of muzzle" and "not damage the gun finish" are difficult to match up in a kydex holster??? Shame, really...but makes sense, I suppose.
