[QUOTE="tRidiot, post: 3418721, member: 9374"] tl;dr - don't leave mushrooms in your yard for the dog to eat So we went for years without a dog, finally gave in to The Boy's begging and got him a German Shepherd last year about this time. She has become a member of the family, we love her to pieces and she is a ton of fun. Spent a good amount on buying her from an established breeder. She's eligible, but we never registered her. Spent a TON of money on training, and overall it's paid off, she's pretty well-behaved. The last week or so she's been a bit more... I dunno, anxious, I think. She's been chasing her tail a LOT more, actually been pulling on the end of her tail a good bit, which is new. She's never been a good eater, we have tried all numbers of different types of dry foods, recommended by the vet, some grain-free stuff (which he then recommended we DON'T do), etc. But we can usually get her to eat once a day, but it's a chore. Yesterday she was pukey, had to rush her outside a couple of times. Apparently last night she had an accident in the house, which she NEVER does anymore. I mean never. She wakes us in the middle of the night very insistently if she needs to go out. Then this morning she didn't come into our room looking for morning attention like she usually does (this is a ritual) when she heard us stirring, also didn't eat her treat last night or this morning, which she ALWAYS loves (Pupperoni and Minties). Then when she went on a walk she shat what looked like mostly blood. Acting fairly normally except a little puny at times. Vet says she ate some wet food (we never do this) and we may have to keep her on that for a few days, he is going to put her on metronidazole (like what we use in humans for a lot of intestinal infections like Giardia, etc.). We can pick her up at 4, but will need to bring her in next week for some bloodwork. See, we THINK she might have eaten a mushroom that was in the yard, but that was a few days ago, she didn't have any problems until yesterday. But apparently it can cause kidney and liver issues, and these can take 10 days to 2 weeks to show up in bloodwork. So we're not sure that has anything to do with it, but dogs can also do this with just general STRESS as well, and we have all be cooped up in the house together on quarantine for 10 days now. So, yeah, she may be a little stressed as well. Major change in routine. I think she'll be ok, but my son is pretty worried about her - they are inseparable. So we will see. <edit> To add to the stress, this will cost us a few hundreds more when I'm having to not work this 2 weeks, and forego not just this paycheck, but maybe also the next one as well. <sigh> Always something...
