Navy Arms 45-70

I purchased this rifle about 15 years ago and it has been residing in the safe for that long. Just recently extracted it from back of safe and thought I would query OK Shooters if they could provide any data regarding this weapon. Any info would be helpful. Thanks

S.M.L.E - short magazine Lee Enfield. Looks like it has been sporterized . May or may not be british .303 caliber. Sometimes they are rechambered during the sporterized tranformation. Other can tell you more about it.

Navy Arms converted a bunch of them to 45-70 back in the day. Also some Siamese Mausers.

MavMat is new and you know how shady new guys are . Sell it to me. Sure wish I had grabbed one from shotgun news way back in the day. The endured has a smooth action and in 45/70 would be the shiznit

Yep I wish I had bought one too. The No 4 is still may favorite action and I wish some company made them using modern steel. If I could I would love to buy some rifles with it in modern calibers.

I’m not new, but I am a little shady. I’ve already have 1 SMLE but that’s not enough, but it is still a .303

You have a sporterized SMLE No 1 Mark III* made in Lithgow, Australia. It had Factory Thorough Repair done in 1952 it looks like. They are nice rifles, originally chambered in .303.
