The 1:14 Twist rate was one of the detriments of that model. It couldn't properly stabilize the bullets, but at the ranges most combat took place in that era, it wasn't an issue. Later models had a faster rate.

Yeah, catch on brush, etc. But it did open a C-ration can as well.
