I made them that long to pile up around your neck to block the cold air from going down the back of your neck. They also would go up over your nose to keep it warm at the same time. Everyone that used one swore about how well they worked.  I used mine elk hunting in New Mexico when the temperature was around zero degrees.</p></blockquote><p></p>
