Proph, he's SUCH a cutie! I can't WAIT to see pics! As much as I love the Pyrenees and Lab I have now, what you want sounds just like my Brittany that I grew up with. They have a tendancy to be hyper, but the "oversized" ones tend to be more chill. Mine slightly topped out the breed standards for a female, and her brother was significantly larger. I showed her from elementary until high school. She was a total couch potato, but a really great obedience dog. My mom also did an obedience class with her, and even with me sitting in the stands, she still minded Mom perfectly. She'd let little kids crawl all over her and pull on her lips and ears and when she'd had enough, she'd just go find a different spot to lay. She's 13 now and still going strong. She doesn't hurt my parents chickens (although she does like to run out into the middle of them and "flush" em all and then just sit and watch them flutter), and she has such a soft mouth that she can go find eggs in the grass and bring them back to you without damaging the egg at all. Hanna is about 21.5" at the shoulder (about 1" above breed standard) and a pretty healthy 55 lbs. LOVE that dog, can't say enough good things about her. Her brother is a great dog, too. Very similar laid-back temperament.
