IIRC an individual with an Armed Security Guard License is allowed to carry only while on duty and inaaccordance with his/her employer's policies. The license does not authorize carry while on the way to/from work, or anywhere else.
This is correct. The only way you can legally carry away from the work site is to have an OK concealed carry permit.

http://www.cleet.state.ok.us/ for more info. The Security/Investigator link is on the bottom of the menu bar.

As for pulling a gun, this is regulated by a law enforcement agency's use of force policies and applicable state law for LEO's. All private citizens (including armed security) are regulated by state law, which requires that you be in fear of death or great bodily harm. Said fear is based on the reasonable man doctrine, so use with care and concern.

Security guards can only open carry where they are employed, if they have to drive from the same employment but to another dept. somewhere else. Once off work you have to put your gear away.

Although the law reads this way, I often see armed security carrying off the job in areas like QuickTrip in full view of local LEOs and they never seem to get hassled.
(I'm not recommending it, just making an observation)

For a perfect example of this, go visit QT on 15th and Denver on any given morning. :D

Yeah most LEO's won't care to much. Now when they meet that one LEO that does everything by the book or sadly if something happens while they're in that establishment that they aren't supposed to be in armed, they will get busted..

Yes, the Armed Guards are taking a big chance. Let one thing happen and it could be rough on them.

They should probably get their concealed carry license so they can legally have a loaded gun in the front of the car close to them when driving to/from their worksite.

Many here are confusing the Law Enforcement course and the Security Guard courses. LE courses for regular, full-time, paid officers are only done at the new Ada training center and you are sent by your employing agency within the first six months of employment. Security Guard courses are done at most of the CareerTech schools plus a few private facilities in the metro areas. The CLEET website has the list of approved schools for the Security Guard courses. These courses are available to individuals for enrollment.

If you intend to take the Phase IV Firearms course to be qualified as an Armed Security Guard, start saving now for your ammo. The course of fire requires 400 rounds.

Not true, you shoot 4 qualifying rounds of 20 rounds each plus whatever the school wants to shoot for practice(usually20-40 rounds). Most schools provide the ammo. The one I teach at in Tulsa,Center of Professional Studies(COPS),provides 9mm ammo and weapons to our students. If you shoot your own gun ,and it's not 9mm, you have to provide your own ammo.
