This Vietnam vet found out the hard way. He pulled a .380 pistol on a knife brandishing robber and prevented a robbery & possible personal injury/death. What did he get for his efforts, he was suspended.

For some it is a liability issue. They do not want to be liable for the stray bullet from their employee. For others they may just not like guns.

At least he was only suspended. At most places here would have been fired on the spot (not that either of these things would be right).

No longer the case. In November 13 the law changed. Now Business owners are exempt from any civil liability UNLESS someone can prove gross negligence.

I don't believe there is a single company in the state (perhaps the country) in my chosen profession that would condone me carrying at work.

While the companies may not be held liable anymore it's their insurance carriers that tell them - NO GUNS.

My company have written policy that all employees can have CCW for defense.
