Message: <blockquote data-quote="farmerbyron" data-source="post: 1978060" data-attributes="member: 4953">Look up "cam phasers" and "spark plugs break off in the heads" for the 04-08 5.4L Triton Fords.  Then you will know what a common problem is.  My BIL bought an 05 Dodge about a year after I bought a new 04 F-150.  His repairs have consisted of an idler pulley.  My repairs include ring and pinion replacement, window regulator replacement, had to pay a Ford mechanic to change the spark plugs because you need a special tool to retrieve the spark plugs that break off in the heads, new driveline (because the u-joints are non-serviceable), and I need to get the cam phasers fixed but don't really want to spend 1300 fixing that to have them go bad again a year after repair.    My truck only has 115,000 the BILs truck is past 140,000.  I rest my case.</blockquote>
