I quit August of 2013. I had smoked since 1968 and was smoking 3 packs a day for many years. Tossed the last pack on the counter and the wife threw them away about a year later. Since quitting I had my chest Xrayed 2 years ago, the DR came back and said "your lungs look awesome!" Earlier this year my cardiologist told my wife "I can't believe your husband ever smoked cigarettes." On sad note, about 10 years ago a good friend passed away from lung cancer. He only smoked cigarettes for 6 years, he was 31 when he passed. A person genes has a lot to do with everything about your health. My Grandfather and step-grandpa both smoked and drank heavily and worked at the smelters in Bville, both lived to their 80's and only had hea;lth problems the last year of their lives. My Grandfather on my dad's side never drank nor smoked, he passed away at 72 and the DR's said he had advanced lung cancer.
