+1 for Selco.
Nuclear War Survival Skills, downloadable at www.oism.org
If you have the patience to recon the thrift stores, you can find some good books pertaining to emergency medical care, primitive outdoor skills, DIY home repairs, ham radio, etc. Way cheap.

Non-fiction books scare me. I'm on a zombie book kick right now. LOL.

(But I do have a stash of non-fiction reference books)

I have learned a lot from Cody lundin's books when all hell breaks loose and 98.6 degrees: the art of keeping your ass alive. I don't agree with his "anti" gun position but I'm a literal gun nut. I picked up an air force survival manual at wannamakers this spring that is worth the read and small enough to fit in a small pocket on my bob. Lots of good useful info in it. And last but not least "the roots of obamas rage" by dinesh desouza. (should be required reading for all registered voters)
