FWIW... this build by @Neanderthal was actually the tipping point that made me even consider building an AR. Something about its looks just appeals to me (other than the minimalistic stock).

Still haven't built one yet, but I'm thinking about one that looks similar, with a 16" 1:8 barrel, Wylde chamber, retro stock, and a shorter free float. It looks good in my head, anyway. :D

So many projects, so little time...

Do you happen to have a spare lower A2 buttstock screw you care to part with?

I need the buttstock and buffer tube assy. I'm still trying to decide if I want to build the upper or if I should go with a preassembled one.

Also, is the 223 wylde worth it? Does it really make much difference in accuracy for .223 and 556?

Have you found any complete uppers available that are configured like you want?

I've never had a 223 Wylde barrel but if I found one that wasn't much more expensive, I would sure try it out.

In the past PSA offered uppers with 223 Wylde for about the same price point as the 223/5.56 chambered versions.

From what I understand, you can shoot .223 in a 5.56, but not the other way around. The 5.56 is a somewhat hotter load and requires a beefier chamber. There's also a tiny difference in casing sizes.

The Wylde is sized between .223 and 5.56, so it handles both cartridges better than a 5.56 chamber will handle .223. It's also heavy enough for 5.56 loads.

I don't think there's much (if any?) difference in price. There wasn't before prices went nuts, anyway.

That's pretty much all I have... :anyone:

Just got to taking a serious look at this. I do like it and I like the chrome lined barrel.

    That's a good thing.
It adds a little extra weight to the BCG for reliability.
