Buffer and spring.
What else am I missing?
I just didn't see the buffer installed.
Yeah. I realized after I took the pics that I had forgotten to put the buffer in.
I'm looking at this with the chrome lined barrel for the extra $35.
Give me your opinions on it. Does it look like a good setup? Anything I should be aware of?
The 1:9 barrel twist will not stabilize heavier bullets but if you aren't worried about that then it looks good.
I prefer 1:8, or 1:7 barrel twist so I can use 75 grain bullets for HD or hunting.
Also with my old eyes, I prefer a removable carry handle to be able to mount an optic if necessary, but I like the idea of the retro style set up if you don't have a problem using iron sights.
From what I understand, there is some controversy over chrome lined barrels. The coating may not always be applied evenly, which can affect accuracy.
Not sure where I read that, but it might be worth a Google.
I've read pretty much the same thing.... generally speaking, unlined barrels may be more accurate, chrome lined barrels may be more durable.
Of course there are a lot of other variables, but everything else being equal, etc....
I had read that as well. From what I could find it appears the chrome lining only makes "maybe" a 1/4 MoA difference but does significantly protect the barrel from heat erosion. To me the small loss in accuracy is worth the increased barrel life. Last thing I want is to have to worry if that last mag dump just caused premature wear.
I have a .223 bolt that would be used for hunting so that's not a great concern for me. This is mostly just a fun gun to me.
My main concern is the overall quality of the company building it. Are they known for good quality products and reliable quality control?
Well crap. Nevermind. Gave them a call. They are 8 months out on filling orders.
