NRA Education and Training is pleased to announce the Regional Training Counselor Appointees!

Earlier this year, during our Trainers' Update at Annual Meeting, we announced the State and Regional Training Counselor Program. The goal of this program is to streamline communications between NRA HQ and the NRA Instructors in the field.

State and Regional Training Counselors will be tasked with assisting HQ in communicating with Instructors and Training Counselors in their areas of responsibility. They will be helping, not directing. Our outstanding NRA Range Safety Officers, Instructors, and Training Counselors will still be able to call HQ directly as in the past.

After a very competitive selection process, the following have been appointed to serve as the first NRA Regional Training Counselors:

Region 1 (Northeast) - James Grammenos of New Jersey
Region 2 (Great Lakes) - Brian Kapnick of Illinois
Region 3 (North Central) - Darin Van Ryswyk of Iowa
Region 4 (Northwest) - Bruce Bowler of Alaska
Region 5 (Mid-Atlantic) - James Sheckels of North Carolina
Region 6 (Southeast) - Dennis Doll of Florida
Region 7 (South Central) - Ralph Riggs of Oklahoma
Region 8 (Southwest) - Michael Abramovich of Arizona

There were many worthy nominees, and the Regional Training Counselors were selected based on objective grading criteria. They will each serve a two-year appointment.

In the coming weeks, the Regional Training Counselors will help HQ notify the State Training Counselors for their Regions. As they are confirmed, we will send out additional notifications to instructors in those states. In the meantime, please join us in congratulating them. Contact information will be posted on www.nrainstructors.org soon.

We are excited about this new program, as it will help improve communications, encourage mentorship, and strengthen our Instructor base programs across the country!

In Freedom,

Eric Frohardt
Director, NRA Education and Training Division
