The most tasty are the green ones right off the tree.

Seriously? I tried one that didn't soften yet and damn it was like I ate a mouth full of desiccant. Damn good after they ripened though!

I did find some passion flower/maypops last fall on the property. Good flavor and definately different.

HAHA! my post was in jest. Feeding green persimmons to kids, grandkids, and newbs to the woods is an art handed down through generations of family's.

Yep, I fell for it. My dad and grandpa had a big belly laugh.

I guess I had forgotten about the astringent thing because my wife had the same reaction when I drug a handful in and ate one. She laughed at me too!
