I know this is an older post, and I'm not interested in participating, but I do have a receiver bending jig that I'd consider contributing to the cause if anybody is interested.
Can't understand why someone would try to build an AK from a flat. Just buy a NODAK and be done with it.
The number one reason I can say is no serial number!!! My number one reason was to see if i could do it! I knew I could put all the parts together but I wanted to take that a little further. Having done that once and the gun works well, that was enough so my AK47 I used a Nodak.
Cool. Did you heat treat it?
Absolutely!! Had some fire brick sitting around and a torch with a tip that worked. My thin metal welding was a learning experience. Rifle runs awesome but the receiver is a little ugly. May one day take it apart and fix it up pretty but it works and has character lol.
Paint or cerakote does wonders.....
