You know the reason he did what he did was because either there wasn't an open range for his rounds or he legitimately didn't know. Why are you so against the idea of adding more to the range and better signage indicating the permitted ammo?

As for the "always gonna be stupid people" thing, well yeah, that's why you're adding more ranges and better signage/notices. Would take quite the idiot, of which there are few, to do it once you have better postings.

Nobody said they were against it but you seem to be trying to provide a solution to a problem that shouldnt have existed in the first place.
I do not know this range, do you? Is the signage in fact inadequate? Are the rules not posted in the clubhouse or on the waiver he likely signed when he joined or came that day?

Are you the guy in the picture? Trying to understand why you are making excuses for him and arguing for the range to make unnecessary and costly "improvements." I've been a member out there for a few years and have never had any confusion or doubt about what is and isn't allowed at any of the ranges. You can post stuff all day long but if some jackass doesn't want to read and decides he should be able to do whatever the hell he wants for his $200, it won't make a difference. The most efficient way to take care of the range is to expel the idiots not make everything idiot proof.

There's only three reasons why he would have done it.
He felt he had no choice due to range space
He didn't know for some reason
He did it on purpose

Blaming "range space" for the incident is a no-go.

The rules are covered in mandatory new member orientation. They are covered in the member handbook. They are posted in several places at the range in question, including at the sign-in desk, that has a huge sign directing everyone to proceed to prior to using the range. It could've been a honest mistake, but the cynic in me doubts it.

It doesn't matter if you think his reason was valid or not, but if it's apparently a problem with range space it only makes sense to fix it. I always thought the hardline attitude of instabanning was idiotic. Solves nothing.

I've been a member there for three years and this is the first incident at this particular range on club property. It's clearly not a matter of "range space", whatever that even means.

There are multiple ranges to shoot center fire rifles at the club. The range in question is clearly posted. Not sure how the excuse of "not enough places/targets to shoot" is at play here.
