Objectivity must work both ways, like I said earlier the cop might have over reacted given the circumstances,  but the old man had a responsibility to shut up and not lay hands on a police officer.  A further aside if he has dementia then he probably shouldn't be driving. At this point I bet the cop doesn't get fired and he shouldn't be. Disciplined for for not using good judgement but the law clearly was broken by the old man.</blockquote>
