Home invaders shot man, forced others into vehicle Tulsa police work at the scene of a late-night shooting Thursday. [Broken External Image] Published: 9/24/2010 5:17 AM A man was shot during a home-invasion late Thursday, police said. The victim was in critical condition when he was taken by ambulance to St. John Medical Center, police said. Police received a call around 11:15 p.m. that a man had been shot, Sgt. Michael Brown said. The man who made the call was visiting the victim at the time of the incident and had been pistol whipped, Brown said. The caller and another man were "forced at gunpoint in the suspect's vehicle and driven more than a mile away" from where the shooting occurred, said Sgt. Steve Stoltz. The caller made the call from a pay phone at at 2024 E. Pine Street, police said. Police were able to find the shooting victim at a house in the 2100 block of East Tecumseh Street and made a forced entry into the residence, Stoltz said. There they found a man with a gunshot wound to the head. Stoltz said the victims were sitting in the house when just before 10 p.m. three to four invaders entered the residence through a side door, all carrying handguns. Police said the men forced everyone in the room on the floor and "demanded to know where the [shooting] victim was." The victim was taken into another room where the other victims heard a shot, police said. The shooting victim's name has not been released. A man, who did not want to be identified because he lives near the home, said he understood from witnesses at the scene that three men and a woman were walking down the street with a dog and entered the home. Another neighbor, a woman who also didn't want to be identified, said she filled out a witness statement and saw three men sitting in a car minutes before the shooting on North Yorktown Avenue, a block away from the residence. Stoltz said the three victims were Hispanic and spoke limited English so police had a difficult time at first trying to find out what happened. Several bilingual officers were dispatched to the scene to help translate for the witnesses. Stoltz said the motive for the shooting is unclear.
