<blockquote data-quote="_CY_" data-source="post: 1421882" data-attributes="member: 7629"><p>Man shot by intruder near 10th and Lewis</p><p></p><p>Published: 1/3/2011 3:17 PM</p><p></p><p>A man was seriously injured when he was shot by a gunman who burst into a residence near 10th Street and Lewis Avenue on Monday afternoon.</p><p></p><p>The shooting happened just after 1:40 p.m. in the 2500 block of East 10th Street, Officer Jason Willingham said.</p><p></p><p>Preliminary reports indicate that the intruder pulled out a gun, forced his way past a woman and went to the bedroom where her husband was sleeping.</p><p></p><p>The gunman struck the man, who was shot during the ensuing struggle, Willingham said.</p><p></p><p>The armed man demanded specific items from the home, Willingham said.</p><p></p><p>The woman left the home for a short time and then returned, Willingham said.</p><p></p><p>The man, who reportedly is 68 years old, was taken by ambulance to a hospital in serious condition, EMSA Public Information Officer Chris Stevens said.</p><p></p><p>The shooter was described as white, in his early 20s, 5 feet 8 inches tall and about 165 pounds.
