Currently, the seat is held by Rebecca Hamilton (D). Does anyone know if someone who is pro-gun republican has stepped up to run against her in 2014? The district is in SW OKC and includes the stockyards area. You can see a map of the district here. This also happens to be the district I live in. I've been debating this since the 2012 session where open carry and several other gun related issues were being discussed. In the absence of a better candidate, I would like to quit complaining and do something about it. However, beyond the actual procedure for getting on the ballot, I have no idea where to get started. I'm hoping that someone here can at least offer some advice. If you agree with what I have to say, I wouldn't mind any additional help and support from the community here, especially if you happen to live in this district. Here is a little bit about me and what my beliefs are. Hopefully this information will at least help someone point me to the people I should talk to. I am a registered Republican. I have at least philosophically libertarian views, even if I sometimes don't agree with the Libertarians. I support Constitutional Carry. I believe our teachers should be allowed to be armed. I think we have too many laws on the books, and I would like to see many of them repealed or at least simplified. I believe in having the smallest government possible. I don't like the idea of legislating morality. I'm not trying to start a debate on these issues here, but I wanted to share some of my beliefs because it may be relevant to finding the right people to speak with getting started. If anyone has any helpful advice, I would really appreciate it.
