Learned this ol trick years ago.

Use Olive Oil instead of lamp oil. Use a new wick if you have used lamp oil. Dont mix olive oil and lamp oil.

Just use regular olive oil, no need to buy EVOO.

During the mad rush before the storm, hit an antique shop, buy a hurricane lamp or 2. Your wife prolly has olive oil in a cabinet already. A gallon is about $12.

I made some olive oil lamps a couple of ice storms ago when the power went out. The kids were rather impressed. Last winter my daughter was hoping the power would go out because "we had so much fun".

I've been meaning to try this. I have some wicks left over from when I made some candles (just for the hell of it, no more, they are easier to buy) and saw where a gal had taken some of those little mason jar thingees with the handles on the side and made some. But I wanna see how much light they give off ...

Thanks for "tweaking" me ... LOL
