Well most people who are serious about self defense have a pistol larger than 22 cal for a reason.

They dont look like cannon's to me...

just saw this. By no means do I encourage anyone to only have a 22, 22's can be very deadly round. The 22 round is responsible for a large number of deaths on it's own. I'm sure you say it doesn't look like a cannon - but how often have you had one pointed at you? I personally want no gun pointed at me, and definitely don't wanna be shot by any of them.

I personally have the 9mm or the 38 nearby for self defense.

Probably a Sig. Either 228 or 220. Glocks are a little more durable, but I don't really enjoy shooting them. I've had a couple problems with Glocks and none with the Sigs.
