Not tried this but I've read that using white paint underneath and then orange/red/whatever on top, will make your paint job last longer.
I did that with fingernail polish. I’d use paint if I did it again. I’m pleased with the results though.
Thanks gents. Lobe the weapon, tough to pickup the front sight with my eyes, can still point shoot but the rest forgetaboutit

Not sure, but a metallic paint/polish might help a bit in low-light situations.
Just a thought.
