[QUOTE="DRC458, post: 3748177, member: 530"] If you're not familiar with the Indian tribes of New Orleans, I encourage to do a little 'readin' up' on them. Very interesting. Saturday was St. Joseph Day, the big day for their commemorative parades. We stayed at a B&B near one corner of Treme LaFitte, and some of these dancers came right past our abode. We also chased/followed some of the others in the neighborhood. The various tribes "confront" one another in the streets. Back in the day, these confrontations sometimes became very violent. Nowadays, they confront one another, have a stand-off, do some 'chest thumping,' then part company. It's primarily a contest for the "prettiest" costumes.
