I posted earlier about the flooding at my brother and Mother’s place. My brother had plans to leave today to take his wife, kids, and our mother to a “crab festival” in Galveston for the weekend, and he left before the water receded in the pasture to see if the fences had washed out. He calls me a couple hours ago wanting me to go check the fences to make sure his cows won’t get out, so being the good brother that I am, I went and walked the fences. It ended up that when I got there his kid’s horse was out of the pasture and grazing his yard, because there’s about 200 yards of perimeter fence laying flat on the ground. Fortunately, his cows didn’t get out, but I had to put up a hot wire to keep them away from the downed fence. Their neighbor lady came over while I was there and asked the very question I was thinking. Who in the hell leaves town while your place is in the process of flooding?!?
