REALLY nice day today surveying roads. First of all, the temperature only got up to about 95 here in Denison, TX, which made it much more comfortable in the van. Further, we worked one record on one road going east out of Denison that ended near an historic bridge called "Carpenter's Bluff Bridge." It was originally built as a railroad bridge to bring coal from Oklahoma to Texas. As time went on, it underwent different iterations until finally being abandoned. However, one can still walk out onto the bridge, which I did so I could take some pictures. Any leaning pictures noticed must know that it is probably because of the photographer and not the bridge construction. New bridge and Red River. Someone might or might not have been out walking on a rickety wooden part of the bridge. The best part of the bridge has a concrete base. There was no hole near the cap, so did they jump, or did they get so drunk they forgot to retrieve their cap? I need to try to get back out there to get a picture of the whole bridge from the newer one, but today, the traffic was a bit too much to have to walk out onto the new bridge.
