Went to a Cajun gumbo cook-off this morning in the middle of the Louisiana Henderson swamp where things like this are a tradition. 25th year. I followed our Cajun friend around to get samples of the 42 contestants. The best in our opinions got third place, but that’s how the contests work. The judges get the final say. About 7:00 went to watch the band and do some new Cajun dance steps from our friends. Randy is my new hero. At 64 he has been married to a now 39 year old for almost 15 years. Solid marriage btw. The band was Horace Trahan. They played everything from Zydeco to ZZ Top with Horace imitating the lead guitar with his accordion. Amazing performance. I kept looking for the lead guitar player. There was none and finally figured out it was the squeezebox. He’s traveled the world.
