I live in a 2 story cape cod type homeplan (well, 1.5 story technically) with a big open living room and a tall ceiling
There are 2 AC systems, one for the top floor and a larger system for the main floor. Historically , since the bedrooms upstairs are rarely used i never turned on that AC -- but was thinking , - with the open living room ceiling and upper landing overlooking it -- am i effectively trying to cool down the upstairs which typically stays around 80-85 degrees and would the main system work more efficiently if i ran the upstairs AC unit a bit to keep the temp up there around, maybe 78 or so ?
Just pondering - what with the recent heat and the new reality of $4-500 electric bills
thanks in advance if anyone has any theories
Pic of living room to upper area - i wouldnt sweat it (no pun intended) if it was just the stairwell but the tall common ceiling had me thinking
