I hope they sell all that they can at that price. The ammo prices have been down for years and the supply has been plentiful. It was a good time to stock up.

I guess people don’t really like a free market.

Sure... the free market allows those of us who perceive some individuals or companies as profiteering to make our own decisions as to whom we will support in the future. Now, if you're selling a product and prices are going up because your costs are going up from the distributor and/or manufacturer, then you don't have any choice but to raise the prices.... but do you think that is what we are seeing here?

No. What we are seeing is excessive profiteering. Like skyrocketing prices for plywood when a hurricane is coming, like skyrocketing generator prices when a winter storm hits, etc. If a RETAIL establishment is drastically raising ammo prices right now, it is almost guaranteed this is the result of profiteering either from them or their supply chain.

This is the epitome of capitalism - if enough of the community perceives an individual or company as nefarious and parasitic, they will choose to shop elsewhere in the future and the market will sort itself out, while the unscrupulous parties will starve.

Sounds perfect to me.

At times like this, when people pay outrageous prices for ammo, guns, or anything else for that matter, I'm reminded of something I learned long ago.

There are a lot of people that have more money, than they have good sense.

A: A free market allows people to charge prices that the market will bear, and buyers to exercise choices in what they are willing to pay. It's best if the free market is allowed to operate without government interference where choices exist, and is good both for sellers and buyers.

B: Artificially inflating prices due to circumstances in order to excessively profit from desperate people who have few or no choices is immoral, and fair, honest, and reasonable people won't do or tolerate it.

Those two statements are not antithetical.
