I recently ran across this info, thought y'all would be interested too... Machinist's Workshop magazine back in 2007 actually tested penetrates for break out torque on rusted nuts. Significant results! They arranged a subjective test of all the popular penetrates with the control being the torque required to remove the nut from a "scientifically rusted" environment. Penetrating oil ..... Average load None ..................... 516 pounds WD-40 .................. 238 pounds PB Blaster ..............214 pounds Liquid Wrench ...... 127 pounds Kano Kroil ............ 106 pounds ATF-Acetone mix... 53 pounds The ATF-Acetone mix was a "home brew" mix of 50 - 50 automatic transmission fluid and acetone. Acetone is the main ingredient in nail polish remover. So readily available. The label on Nail Polish Remover says: "Acetone, water, other ingredients," fragrance & color. The label also warns that it can damage plastics. So using this stuff might be a bit of a challenge. I'm thinking a good container would be whatever the Nail Polish Remover comes in. Pour half of the NP Remover into a glass bottle, then refill the NP Remover bottle with ATF to make a 50-50 mix. Probably dispense the mixture by dipping a screwdriver into the bottle.
