Pileated Woodpecker I saw today.

Sitting in my ground blind, hear it screaming as it was flying my way. I turned and peeked through one of the windows and there it was. Glad I toted my camera with me today.

Great pics, thanks for sharing! Don't see on this side of the state. We saw one last spring when turkey hunting in SE OK and my daughter was amazed at how big they were.

I don't think (know for sure almost ) we don't have big enough timber. Seen them a lot south of Bartlesville along the river growing up.

Got them on my land in extreme eastern Atoka county. They do make a racket don't they? Excellent pics Pulp!

I've got a dozen cottonwood trees. Isn't that timber? LOL

Dennis, many eastern birds follow Oklahoma rivers far west of their normal range. That's one of the reasons Oklahoma has as high a bird species count as it does. You could possibly have one out yonder, but it would be pushing it.
