I've had good luck with Duracoat so far. Any issues were operator error when I first started out experimenting with it i.e. inadequate prep on the surface, dust, debris in the air (from airbrushing outdoors). All issues with any coating I'm sure.
I prepped it exactly how the instructions said. I've read on other forums that it can take a LOOONG time for Alumahyde to completely cure.
Wow this Duracoat is awsome! I used it for the first time and am totaly happy with the performance of it. I was worried about getting good detail with the epoxy and it worked good concidering I was mixing small amounts in my airbrush (even down to 12cc/1cc !!!!). I think I need to go over the edges with combat black and coat with satin or mat clear. If anyone knows any pointers for my new venture into Duracoating firearms please let me know. I am also open to criticism so feel free and let me know if you would like to see more soon. [Broken External Image]
Pointers???? Are you kidding? I checked out your myspace link...Dude your a master blaster!!! seriously that is amazing, everyone should check it out. oh and I would really be interested in price quotes for handguns.
I would think that by using a clear duracoat clear coat; you could just use your normal acrylics? and I use mek to clean my nozzles; this stuff gets rubbery if you dont get it out.
