Yeah I figured. All that rambling wasn't directed at you. To answer your question: yes - it's taboo among the general public now. Banned in Australia and much of Europe. This is the traditional backer rod method we posted with: He came to us at 9 weeks and he was 99% healed from his crop done a few weeks earlier. This posting method is insulation backer rod, wrapped in duct tape to stiffen it, then wrapped sticky side out with porous sports tape. Inserted in the ear like an ear plug, and taped at the top and bottom to hold the ear erect. Most common thing we get on walks is people thinking a.) they are bandages and he just got the crop that day. LOL. Yeah, he came out of anesthesia and we took him to the park! or b.) they are bandages and the ears are unhealed, and take months to "heal" and stand upright. WTF? What kind of clean surgical cut to cartilage and skin takes months to heal? He was healed back in October. People think we intentionally "maintain" a wound for 8-12 months I guess. Beats me. Failed biology class I reckon. I've recently switched to a method that involves a strip of a big zip tie sandwiched between to layers of tape, stretched inside the ear. With black tape it's almost unnoticeable, so maybe I'll get questioned less. No pics of the new method handy.
